HIA-LI Annual Trade Show: Economic Development on Long Island

CEO Joe Campolo presented as a panelist at HIA-LI’s 38th Annual Trade Show Executive Luncheon, where he discussed economic developments reshaping Long Island’s landscape.
The event was moderated by Marc Herbst, Executive Director of the Long Island Contractors’ Association, the panel also features Jim Coughlan, Principal at TRITEC Real Estate Co.; Cara Longworth, Regional Director at Long Island Empire State Development; and Paul Pontieri, Mayor of the Village of Patchogue; with opening remarks by Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine.
Campolo highlighted Long Island’s economic strengths, including its large population, the impact of the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge, strong tourism, quality of life, and fiscally responsible local governments. He emphasized that one of the most pressing issues facing Long Island businesses today is access to capital. Traditional commercial lenders have become increasingly risk-averse, making it difficult for companies to secure financing for growth initiatives and strategic investments. Addressing capital access constraints will be critical to supporting Long Island’s economic growth in the years ahead.
